Political Philosophy for Lesley Wiscomb
Candidate for |

|
I'm passionate about Santa Barbara - its rich heritage, scenic and architectural beauty, diversity and small-town character. These qualities are central to our quality of life and our economic vitality, and we must carefully manage our City to preserve them. Gang violence, aggressive panhandlers and budget pressures jeopardize our quality of life and our economy, and we must redouble the recently encouraging efforts to address them. We need common sense, cost effective, long-term solutions. I'll work full time on these efforts and ensure your dollars are spent wisely and transparently. I study issues carefully, listen to all points of view, and make thoughtful decisions based on what's best for our community as a whole. I've championed quality programs that help keep young people on the right path. I've worked with neighborhood residents to help develop sound solutions to their specific issues. My successful careers in finance and in landscape architecture and my volunteer work with local organizations will bring new expertise to City Council and give me the knowledge, experience and judgment to help effectively lead our City. I am a registered no-party-preference candidate who believes our City Council should put political preferences aside and work as a team to establish priorities, develop policies, and make decisions that preserve and protect the important qualities of our City. On City Council I will do my homework, be sensitive to your concerns and to our unique heritage, and make balanced, common sense decisions that are in the City's best interests. Together we can take Santa Barbara to a safe, clean and prosperous future that maintains what we all love about our special place. |
