2000 to Present + President, Healthy Environments Daycare Board of Directors

Serve on the Board and currently as President of a Board of Directors that oversees the providers of childcare services for over 90 children from the ages of 16 weeks to 5 years of age. The Board raises funds for tuition assistance for families in need and for improving the childcare center services.

1994 to Present - Restoration Advisory Board for Hamilton Army Airfield

As a Board member, Pat Eklund is responsible for overseeing the clean up of Hamilton Army Airfield. This involves over 2500 acres and existing buildings and infrastructure including an abandoned airfield. She provides feedback to the Army and the Navy on their proposed clean up approach and standards to ensure that the clean up levels protect the intended re-use of the area. Pat reviews and comments on multiple environmental documents which requires an understanding of the clean up programs provided for in CERCLA, RCRA and Clean Water Act.

1994 to 1996 - Board Member, SF Bay Model Association

As a Board Member, Pat Eklund oversaw the public information program for the SF Bay Model located in Sausalito, California. This included expanding the displays and activities at the Model to broaden the public understanding of the environment of the San Francisco Bay and Delta region. Specifically, she spearheaded a project which will display the history of the construction and use of the model. This project includes an oral history of those involved throughout the years of its construction and use as a working hydraulic model.

1990 to 1996 - North Marin Federation of Homeowners

From 1993 to 1996, Pat Eklund served as Vice President of the Federation which represented homeowners in North Marin. This involved influencing upcoming local, state and private activities to ensure that the homeowners' interests were protected.

1987 to 1996 - President, Hillside Park East Homeowner's Association

As President, Pat Eklund oversaw an operating budget and reserve fund that exceeds $200,000 for the maintenance and operation of a 57-town home complex. This involved oversight of a management company hired to administer the day-to-day requests from the homeowners; and, a 5-member board which oversees the fiduciary responsibilities of a planned unit development. Pat served as a Board member since its inception in 1986; and, as President for four terms.

1994 to 1995 - Board of Trustee, Novato Community Hospital

As Board of Trustee, Pat Eklund was responsible for overseeing the administration of our Novato Community Hospital. This involved an understanding of health care, management and administration of hospital services. She assisted in developing a public and private partnership with the Novato Unified School District to provide free health care to the eligible students in 26 elementary, junior and high schools in the City of Novato. She provided oversight of high risk incidents and ensured follow up actions were taken with the physician, nurses, patient, hospital staff, and legal staff.

1992 to 1994 - City of Novato Hamilton Reuse Commission

Pat Eklund developed, evaluated and recommended options for reuse of the Hamilton Air Force Base, which was being decommissioned by the U.S. military. Specifically, she worked with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the development of environmental documents and other agencies involved in the base closure at Hamilton. These recommendations were presented to the Novato City Council for action.

1992 to 1994 - Board Member, Flood Control Advisory Board

Pat Eklund was instrumental in ensuring that Novato's flood control projects protected the residents and were environmentally sound. She was instrumental in developing comments for Board adoption on Environmental Impact Reports for several controversial projects.

1992 to 1995 - Commissioner, City of Novato Planning Commission

Pat Eklund brought a perspective in evaluating projects and applications that enhanced the community while protecting the environment. She initiated changes and conditions on projects and issues that ensured the community's interest was served.

1992 to 1995 - Novato Tree Task Force

Pat Eklund assisted in developing recommendations on a tree program for consideration by the Novato City Council. This included ordinances providing greater protection for the existing indigenous trees (Bays and Oaks) while planting additional trees.

1991 to 1992 + Pat Eklund served on the Citizens Advisory Committee for the Hamilton Project proposed by the Martin Group.

1975 to 1983 - San Francisco Bay Area Engineers Week Committee (First woman and non-engineer to be Chair)

Pat Eklund held various positions including public relations, scholarships, Vice Chair and Chair of the San Francisco Bay Area Engineers Week Committee. As Chairperson, she managed a 20-member committee volunteering to work towards the advancement of the engineering profession in the SF Bay Area. This involved directing the general operating budget of $35,000, a $12,000 scholarship program and the solicitation of funds. She established a 15-member advisory board consisting of Vice Presidents and Chief Executive Officers of the major engineering firms including Bechtel, Stauffer Chemical Company, PG&E, Hewlett-Packard Company, Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corporation, Standard Oil Company and others. She worked closely with the Vice Presidents and CEOs on program guidance, financial contributions, staffing and administrative assistance. Pat performed as mistress of ceremonies at the annual banquet featuring a nationally known speaker and held to honor the student scholarship winners with over 500 representatives of the engineering profession in attendance.
