Candidate for
Member, City Council; City of Maywood

I am a Maywood native and a product of the local schools attending Heliotrope elementary in Maywood, Nimitz Junior High in Huntington Park and graduated from Bell High School in 1992. I am a military veteran with service in the USMC reserve and in California National Guard raised in Maywood, California I am first generation American. My parents were immigrants that struggled and worked vigorously to provide for me and two other brothers. I understand the importance of fair access to economic opportunity while remaining true to my roots and upholding the highest level of integrity. I am a product of Maywood. My parents personal strive allowed me to benefit from all that Maywood had to offer. I seek to improve city services to maintain the standard of living for working families.

Having two teenage daughters, I understand the importance of having vital youth services in Maywood that will provide guidance and a brighter future. Utilizing a youth program that was offered when I was younger, I joined the South Gate Police Explorers at 16 years of age to later go on to become a police officer and promoted to Sergeant.

I am actively engaged within my community participating in local community events, and participated first hand to prepare the local Maywood YMCA for opening day. I have worked for the City of South Gate for over 20 year and have been a police officer for 17 years. I have been the 2nd Vice President of the SG Police Officers' Association. I hold a Master Degree from Cal State Northridge in Public Administration / Public Sector Leadership. I posses the experience and knowledge required from a candidate and future potential City Council member to bring prosperity to my community.

Now I am in the position to contribute to my community and give back so that future families can benefit as my family and I benefited. I truly believe that the getting is in the giving. I have been blessed with the opportunity to raise the bar on my public service and run for Maywood City Council. I have held many leadership roles over the years. I learned that leadership is earned through committed action and I have earned it! I have the necessary experience, courage, and vision to create policies that protect and uphold our values, quality of life, and strengthen the community. I am deeply committed to nothing less than excellence for the city of Maywood. It requires a leader be humble, vulnerable and engaged to listen to the concerns of all in the community not just a selected few. Leaders act responsible and make the difficult decisions, I have proven experience.
