J.R. Reviczky is a 50+ year resident of the South Bay, moving to Hermosa Beach in 1967.

After graduation from Bishop Montgomery High School in Torrance, J.R. enlisted in the US Naval Reserve. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, J.R. began his career as an electrician. He rose through the ranks of his profession from apprentice to Superintendent and ended his career as Training Director for one of the largest electrical contractors in the United States. In 2006 J.R. retired after 37 years in the Electrical Construction Industry.

J.R. continued his education attending El Camino College, Long Beach City College and UCLA eventually earning his Community College Teaching Credential and his State of California Secondary Teaching Credential. He later went on to teach industrial electricity at Long Beach City College. J.R. is currently an instructor at the NECA / IBEW Electrical Training Institute where he teaches supervision, management and various OSHA safety related courses to members of the Electrical Construction Industry.

J.R.'s community involvement has included membership in Hermosa Beach Friends of the Library, Hermosa Beach Historical Society, Hermosa Beach Community Center Foundation, Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce, Hermosa Beach Kiwanis Club, and the Hermosa Beach Sister City Association. J.R. has been an AYSO Soccer coach, Little League Baseball coach, President of the Hermosa Beach Baseball Leagues, and a co-founder of the Hermosa Beach Basketball League. He was also the Packmaster of Hermosa Beach Cub Scout Pack 860. In 1985, J.R. was appointed to the Hermosa Beach Parks, Recreation and Community Resources Commission where he was instrumental in creating a master plan for Hermosa Beach's parks. He also helped draft Hermosa Beach's recreation and public event policies. J.R. was a Steering Committee member of OSPAC (Open Space People's Action Committee) and was instrumental in the purchase of the Greenbelt. He was also a Board Member and the Construction Coordinator for the Hermosa Beach Veterans Memorial. J.R. has been a Guest Science Lecturer for Hermosa Valley School and has been a reader for their annual reading program. J.R. is also one of the co-founders of the Beach Cities Toy Drive, which for the last 20 years has collected and distributed tens of thousands of toys to needy children throughout the South Bay and beyond. J.R. is also a member of the Navy League and serves as on the Board of Directors of Navy Days LA, which has for the last 15 years has hosted Naval Vessels in the City of Hermosa Beach and the City of Redondo Beach and the Port of Los Angeles.

In 1993, J.R. was elected to the Hermosa Beach City Council and he assumed his position as Mayor in January 1997. J.R. has served as the City's' representative to the Beach Cities Committee, Metropolitan Transportation Authority City Selection Committee, Los Angeles County Selection Committee, South Bay Cities Sanitation District, West Basin Water Association, Airport Noise Committee, Library Committee, Beach Cities Health District Committee, Hermosa Beach Sister City Association Council Liaison and is a member of the County of Los Angeles Emergency Preparedness Commission. J.R. was also a member of the 36th Congressional District Military Academy Review Board. In 1997, J.R. was re-elected to the Hermosa Beach City Council and served as Mayor in 2000. In 2001 J.R. was elected to his third term and served as Mayor in 2005. In 2005 J.R. was elected to his forth term on the City Council and served his community as Mayor in 2008. J.R. retired from Public Office in 2009 and continues to remain active in the community through volunteering in community projects.
