Dr. Dianne Philibosian is Director of the Institute for Community Health and Wellbeing at CSU Northridge, and a veteran of 40 years in the field of higher education. While at CSU Northridge she has served as associate dean of the College of Health and Human Development, and as a professor in the Departments of Elementary Education, Communication Studies, Child Development, and Recreation and Tourism Management.

Dr. Philibosian is also a member of the Board for Regents at the University of the Pacific, and formerly served as Chair of the Board of Regents + the first woman to do so in the University's 152-year history. She also serves on the national board of the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities.

A nationally-known expert in the care and education of children: In addition to her teaching and writings on child development, Dianne Philibosian has served on the:

• State of California's Child Development Policy Advisory Committee
• County of Los Angeles Child Care Planning Committee
• Pasadena Partnership for Children
• Mayor's Advisory Board for Child Care for the City of Los Angeles

Dianne Philibosian's parents were fortunate to arrive in the United States 100 years ago: her father had booked passage on the Titanic, but was delayed and missed the ill-fated voyage. Once here, the family began a typically American rise through hard work and education. All three of the Philibosian children moved from the farm to successful professional careers: Dianne and her brother, Richard, are both educators; and her brother, Robert Philibosian, is the former District Attorney of Los Angeles County.

Although she was born in San Diego, Dianne spent most her childhood in the Fresno area. After graduating from the University of the Pacific, she taught elementary school in Stockton for several years before entering graduate school.

Dianne earned her masters degree and her PhD at Southern Illinois University, spending several years helping establish and train the workforce for the first Head Start programs in the State of Illinois. In the early 70's she moved back to California and began her remarkable career in higher education by joining the faculty at CSU Northridge.

Dianne moved to Pasadena in 1976. In the process of getting involved in community and civic organizations, she met her future husband: Tom Seifert. After 22 years together, they still share a passion for community service.

Dianne currently serves on the Board of the Pasadena Center Operating Company and has previously served on the boards of the PCC Foundation, the Pasadena Playhouse, the Caltech Children's Center, the Mother's Club Learning Center, the Mission Community Hospital, the National Learning Institute, the Child Care Information Services, the Arroyo Seco Foundation, LA Family Housing, and the Alliance of Businesses for Child Care Development.
