Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Saugus Union Elementary School District

From the Campaign Trail....I am running for School Board because I believe in our community and care greatly about the children and families in our valley. Santa Clarita is where I grew up and lived most of my entire life. Whenever I ask a parent why they live in Santa Clarita I most likely hear "it is wonderful place to live because of its quality of life, its great schools and people". I want to ensure that Saugus Union Schools continue to be the highest performing and choice for elementary education.

As a parent and product of our local public schools, I feel privileged to have served our community over the last 8 years on the school board and many non-profit organizations. We proudly have two daughters who successfully graduated from the 6th grade in from one of our schools and successfully moved on to the Hart District.

Currently, my wife, Andrea, and I also have two boys in first and fourth grade in our public school district.

Many of the programs I would like to see implemented in the school district are already underway. I am excited about the continued utilization of technology to better educate our young students. Our children today learn in a much different way from how they did generations ago. Teachers and school administrators are pioneering innovative strategies to give choice to the families in SCV.

I love seeing new opportunities in the arts, sciences, technology, engineering, mathematics, ethics and entrepreneurship. These are key areas where future jobs and businesses are rapidly growing. Despite State of California fiscal constraints that caused the district to make cuts in personnel and other areas, I am optimistic because of the success we have had in returning teachers to the classroom, reducing class sizes and nurturing and fostering talent.

Also, our decisions are indicative of a culture of leadership and excellence that will continue in our schools as we see enrichment opportunities continue to increase and our schools receive performance awards.

We have an amazing multi-generation tradition in Saugus USD. Families build their legacies and Saugus schools do as well. Along with our teachers, staff and administrators, I place great value on what previous accomplishments exists, but WE are all driven to build upon our excellence!
