Political Philosophy for Steve Castaneda
Candidate for |
Steve Castaneda is the candidate with a proven track record of cutting pension costs, creating jobs and turning government budget deficits into surpluses. During his two terms as a Councilmember, Chula Vista went from an $8 million budget deficit to a $12 million surplus. Steve is a small business owner and strong advocate for local businesses. He developed a small business procurement plan that won the U.S. Small Business Administration's "Program of the Year" award. As a former San Diego police officer, Steve has made increasing public safety while safeguarding taxpayer money a high priority. He fought to maintain beat cops in Chula Vista, while eliminating high-paid city executive positions, excessive pensions and red tape. Steve is married with two sons and has lived in this district for more than 22 years. Steve's deep community roots give him a local perspective on issues that truly matter to 80th district residents. California's unemployment rate of 9.8% is the worst in the country. 25,000 people in this district alone are looking for work. Employers are leaving our state because of excessive taxation and regulation. Our lawmakers and special interests in Sacramento are directly to blame. Steve has a track record of job creation and experience turning budget deficits into surpluses, and he will use that experience to fix California. Steve's a true champion of the community, NOT a special interest insider looking for a career stepping-stone. |
