Political Philosophy for Mark Powell
Candidate for |

I am running for School Board, because I can no longer stand by and watch our children's education be undermined by misguided leadership and poor decisions. I will put quality back in our children's education. I firmly believe that a good education improves a person's successes in life and raises self-esteem and self reliance. Being a school board member is one of the most important jobs in our society. As a school board member I will positively impact critical decisions that affect the lives of our students, parents, teachers, administrators and district staff. I became a teacher to make a positive contribution to my community and I have always been an advocate, not just for students, but for teachers, as well. Teachers are the backbone of our society and immensely influence our children. They deserve our support and attention in their efforts to educate their students. As a former school teacher, vice principal and college professor, I have first hand knowledge of the demands of the job. My business experience will serve us well in making sound fiscal and policy decisions. I want the best for our students; I want the best for our district! I have the experience, knowledge and qualifications to make sound decisions regarding the education of our students. As a parent, educator and commuinty leader I believe it is my duty to serve as a San Diego Unified School a board member for the future of our children. Thank you, Mark Powell, MA.Ed. |
