I was born in San diego and was raised in Pacific Beach and attented Mission Bay High. I began surfing in 1957, and expanded my ocean experience to SCUBA diving and sailing.
I attended San Diego State College and received a AB degree in Biology and Earth Science. Between the attainment of my teaching credential,I served in the US Army in tanks. After the Army, I finished my credential much more mature and ready than before and began teaching High School. For 34 years, I taught General Science, Biology, AP Biology. During my last ten years before retirement, I taught my favorite subjects- Marine Science, Soccer, and Track. Somwhere along the line, I earned a Masters Degree in Education.
Anne and I raised our two girls in Luecadia, and now we have three grandchildren living in Leucadia enjoying this fantastic region as their mom and aunt did.
During my child rearing stage, I was President of Leucadia Town Council for two years. In 1980, I succesfully ran for Leucdia Water District and served on the Board until 1985. I also was involed in forming Batiquitos Lagoon foundation, and served on that Board. I also began Coaching and refereeing youth soccer from sixth grade to high school. An injury prevented me form playing the Worlds most popular game, so now I play soccer as referee.
Presently, I referee soccer with my Granddaughter, sail, dive, and maintain a habitat for insects and birds. The only rule is- Argentine Ants must stay out of the house.
I am now on the Board of Batiquitos lagoon foundation, and of course Leucadia Wastewater District. I also volunteer for the friends of the Encinitas Library. I carry boxes of books and work in the Friends Bookstore.
