City Clerk Goals

My goal as City Clerk is to fulfill the intent of the office of City Clerk to serve the people of Oceanside

The City Clerk should be apolitical as the role is not to set or influence city policy, or to be influenced by other city officials or members of the public, but to ensure the adherence to established policy and public law.

The City Clerk should be seen as an independent elected official serving to ensure open and honest election procedures, stewardship of city historical documents and materials, efficient transcription, filing and retention of official records, and management, support and guidance of the City Clerk Department.

In over 25 years of service to my community, I have established productive relationships with the outgoing City Clerk and with the staff of the City Clerk Department.

As a long time commissioner in Oceanside, I made it a point to become acquainted with our elected officials and with city management staff. My familiarity with the operations of the city, city officials, and the public have positioned me well to serve as a productive and effective City Clerk who will be responsive to the needs of the community and to the voice of the citizens of Oceanside.
