That master planning for the 44-acre Encinitas Community Park began in 2001 and ground was not broken for construction until 2012, and that Encinitas started a Comprehensive Master Plan Update in 2010 and decided to re-start the process in 2012 with a strike-out/redline version of the 1989 City of Encinitas General Plan, suggests, at least, that land-use planning is a complicated process. These facts, however, do not excuse taking more than a decade to start building a community park. The residents of Encinitas deserve better from their elected representatives and City staff. I am seeking a seat on the Encinitas City Council not because I know what the General Plan Update should be, but because I know that the planning process can be done better. My experience is in helping others and groups reach agreements on difficult matters, and that is what you should expect from your City Council and staff.
