School board's role is to provide balance with checks and balances.
Our democracy is build in such a way that elected officials answers to the constituents. The school board answers to the people and the superintendent answers to the board. A school boards' role is to ask critical questions about what or why the superintendent is doing what he is doing and not just rubber stamping everything that comes before them.
