Joy has served on many government committees in Orange County but now limits her service to Midway City Sanitary District which serves the residents and businesses in Westminster and Midway City. She also serves as a Director for the Orange County Sanitation District.Joy has been a resident of Westminster for over 50 years arriving with husband Don and sons as they relocated from Chicago, by way of Indiana and Ohio. They founded and operated Ace Tool Company in Long Beach and found Westminster a great place to raise their family. As they participated in school, church, scouting, and little league activities their interest in the community grew and they became involved in local government. Widowed in 1975 when youngest of 7 sons was 9 years of age, Joy operated Ace Tool Company, an aerospace industrial business , for 19 years. Busy years as head of the household while serving as a member of Westminster City Council. Joy currently serves as President of Westminster Historical Society and is a member of Kiwanis of Westminster, Barber City Women's Club, Friends of the Library and Patrons of Goldenwest College Patrons. Cooking for family, spending time with sons and grandchildren(10)is a favorite way to relax, followed closely by reading and gardening. A part of each day finds Joy at Blakey Historical Park with volunteers maintaining exhibits. Several hundred 3rd grade students visit the museum and big, red barn each year as part of their local history study. |
