Larry Agran has a long record of accomplishment in Irvine.
When Larry last served as Mayor of Irvine (2000-2004), the city received national recognition for:

  • Pioneering programs in child care
  • Affordable housing
  • Recycling
  • Open space preservation

With Larry's leadership, Irvine has continued to draw national attention and receive numerous accolades:

  • For eight years in a row, the FBI has ranked Irvine as the "Safest City in America"
  • Money Magazine named Irvine one of America's most fiscally sound communities
  • Popular Science listed Irvine as among the greenest cities in America
  • Business Week cited Irvine as one of the top five cities in the nation best prepared to overcome the recession

Under Larry's leadership, even during these tough economic times, budgets have been balanced, no services have been cut, not a single employee has been laid off, and there have been no new taxes. While the California unemployment rate hovers above 10 percent, Irvine's unemployment rate is only 5.8 percent . . . and falling.

As successful as we have been, our future in Irvine isn't guaranteed. We need strong, smart leadership to continue moving forward.
