United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Geneva, Switzerland To promote UNHCR's work and publicize the plight of the refugees worldwide with the use of the television media. To create programs for internal and external use which included the following: "The International Meeting of Humanitarian Aid for Victims of the Conflict in the Former Yugoslavia" "Rio Earth Summit" "World Bank- African Presentation" "De-Mining in Northwest Somalia" "Deforestation in Malawi" "Repatriation of South African Exiles" "Afghanistan Repatriation" "Yugoslavia: Refugee Crisis" In the field, I filmed, edited and arranged for satellite transmission to the international TV markets. I have created working relationships with BBC, WTN, ITN, CBS, ABC, Eurovision, HHK, CNN. 1990-1991 Senior Editor Orange County News Channel OCN, Santa Ana, CA Senior editor in charge of on-going news programming editing, in addition to instructing staff with state-of-the-art editing equipment (Macintosh-based, Betacam system). 1989-1990 Producer Director America Canta, Los Angeles, CA Produced, directed and negotiated broadcast rights for a series of Spanish television programs that included 13 half hour shows for the Los Angeles market. One hour special for Cinco de Mayo celebration originally broadcast in Telemundo. 1988-1989 Director of Photography Heritage Festivals, Inc., Mill Valley, CA Filmed a series of programs in the high mountains of Peru and Bolivia, "Magic in the Andes" for the Discovery Channel. 1987-1988 Producer/Director KSMS TV Ch. 67, Monterey, CA Filmed commercial productions and special programs, which include the visit of Pope John Paul II. Established the first daily newscast in Spanish on the central coast. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: I have been recognized for my achievements by the Barcelona International Film Festival (First Prize, 1983), the Cine Eagle (USA), Lilles International Film Festival (France), the Hiroshima Film Festival, "San Francisco Chronicle" and "Art Weekly". My work has been featured at museums throughout the world, such as San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Laguna Gloria Museum at Austin, Texas and more recently at the Pacific Film Archive, Berkeley, California. |
