Questions & Answers

1. In this time of high unemployment, what are the most important steps that should be taken to improve our nation’s economy?

1. Capture lost revenue from corporate tax cheats who set up foreign "headquarters" wile conducting business almost exclusively with the US government so to evade paying taxes;
2. Roll back the millionaire tax cut;
3. Develop more land-based domestic energy to create more good paying jobs, which will also strengthen the dollar and reduce the balance of trade deficit;
4. Cut off tax breaks for companies that close American plants or places of employment and move the jobs overseas
5. Approve the infrastructure programs proposed by the president so we can start getting our builders back to work
6. Make loans and grants to small businesses with a history of hiring and producing needed products in our communities;

2. How should the federal budget deficit be addressed, now and into the future? How should budget priorities for defense and domestic programs be adjusted?

1. Audit the ways money is being hidden so we know what is being spent--for example nuclear reserach is divided in the DOD, the DOE, etc. and the "War on Drugs" has been split in recent memory amongst 5 dozen federal agencies --we need full and complete disclosure of where the money is being spent
2. Eliminate programs we do not need--for example the F-22 is not as reliable as the F-35--so why develop two fighters? (esp since we are still aking improvements on the Superhornet,retooling the F-15s)
3. Allow the government to negotiate drug prices downward like any mass purchaser would;
4. Stop rubber stamping cost-overruns
5. Stop taking work from US soldiers and our federal civil service and giving the same work to high prices contractors;
6. More BRAC-ing needs to be done, but not here, but where we have overlapping military mission footprints overseas;
7. Start making Iraq and Afghanistan pay for our security services by paying us back with natural resources mined from their country

3. What are your priorities with respect to our nation’s energy policy? Should there be an emphasis on clean energy and reducing carbon emissions, and/or on reducing our dependence on foreign sources?

1. Develop more land-based domestic energy to create more good paying jobs, which will also strengthen the dollar and reduce the balance of trade deficits;
2. Reduce energy demand by phasing in LED lighting which will reduce carbon emissions;
3. Reduce carbon emissions by using more efficient scrubber technology

4. What, if any, changes should be made to federal health care policies or programs?

1. We should have single payor--it will give physician choice and patient control whilst saving nearly 30%, will interface with existing programs with little to no disruption.
2. Prescriptions could be reduced in price by letting the government negotiate the price to the same level as any other industrialized nation pays for the same drugs--e.g. Canada, France, England--US consumers should not be gouged

5. What, if any, changes should be made to federal rules on campaign financing?

100% public financing should be the goal as should overturning Citizens United
