Affordable Care Act

My first priority will be to repeal the Affordable Care Act before most of its stipulations take effect. This is a time-sensitive issue and must be my top priority. It is my belief that this legislation was created to fix symptoms of other, greater governmental issues like lack of free markets, regulation and tort reform. The Affordable Care Act also creates one more entitlement program which the American taxpayer cannot afford. The uncertainty brought about through this legislation has crippled job creation and stifled new business investments.

National Debt

My second priority will be to reduce the National Debt. This will require difficult decisions and courageous determination by all true patriots elected to congress. There is only one way to reduce the debt and it is to address entitlement reform. Over the last couple of years mandatory spending, primarily made up of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid has increased to over 56% of our federal budget. Since we now are borrowing 42% of every dollar the federal government spends and increased taxation will not fix the problem. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that the growing interest payment on our national debt will reach 20% of revenue by the year 2020.

Restore Faith in our Elected Officials

My third priority will be to enact term limitations in both the Senate and the House of Representatives. It is imperative that faith in our elected leaders be restored to the citizens of this great nation. Congress' sole purpose is to serve the needs of their constituents. Instead there is growing fear and mounting disdain for politicians whose only goals seems to be growing their personal wealth and power. Limiting Congressional terms to 12 years per seat will reduce the impact and control of lobbying groups, as well as eliminate Congressional worries concerning where their next campaign contribution will come from. This will empower our elected representatives to make courageous decisions to move this country forward and upward.
