Dear Neighbor:

Thank you for the opportunity to represent you on Norwood City Council. It has been a privilege and an honor to serve with such experienced and dedicated people.

I am proud of the work we've done to get Norwood on solid financial footing, to improve our neighborhoods and infrastructure, and to attract new and better businesses.

The rate of the progress we'll make over the next two years depends on the economy. Times are tough, but we've already done the hard work that other cities are just starting to do. If re-elected, I plan to work on:

  • Sidewalk and Curb Repair Assistance Program
  • Full implementation of the CRA and Vacant Building programs
  • More street repair and park improvements
  • New housing for Norwood
  • Rookwood Exchange, Linden Pointe expansions, and Xavier East Campus

Can we accomplish those things? See some highlights of past accomplishments below.

Thank you again, and don't forget to vote.

Sincerely, Keith D. Moore

My Record on City Council

Smart Growth

We're working hard to attract the best new developments. The result?

  • Linden Pointe
  • Surrey Square improvements
  • New Medical Building at old MAB
  • Medical offices on Sherman and Norwood
  • Seek Research's first class rehab on Norwood Avenue

Fiscal Responsibility

My first day in office in 2002, the City faced a two million dollar shortfall. Using some common sense, high standards, and clear heads, we found hundreds of thousands of dollars in annual savings. And we continue reviewing departments and programs for more efficient ways to serve you.

Today, Norwood is in the black, without police or fire layoffs, land sales, or park closings.

Street Program

I fought back against suggestions to cut street funding, because streets deserve more than whatever's left over.

For the first time in decades, Norwood has a pay-as-you-go street program. More than resurfacing, we instituted a street maintenance program to keep them in good shape longer.

Parks and Buildings

Better parks and City property makes life better for all of us. In the last two years, we've made repairs to City buildings and invested in our parks:

  • Waterworks Pool renovations
  • Waterworks/ Lindner Park upgrades
  • Hunter Park restrooms
  • Burwood Park repairs
  • Fenwick Park playground & lights

And we've pledged at least $200,000 per year in more capital improvements for the next three years.

Neighborhoods

  • CRA Tax Abatements: New incentives for improvements to property and new construction.

  • Comprehensive Housing Study: I arranged for Property Advisors and the Community Building Institute to identify problems areas and the best next steps to pursue - at no cost to Norwood.

  • Eyesores torn down: We broke through the bureaucratic hurdles to take action to remove junk property bringing down our neighborhoods. We are working on in-fill housing for some of those lots.

  • Building Permits Streamlined.

  • Shopping Cart Containment Systems at Kroger and Walgreens.

  • Disorderly House Ordinance to preserve your neighborhood.

  • RMX Zoning to keep single family homes.
