An Opportunity for a Positive ChangeBy Steve HarnessCandidate for Board Member; Mount Healthy City School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Reasons for changing the make up of the BoardThis election year is an important one for the Mt. Healthy School District. It represents a rare opportunity to inspire positive change. Two Board seats are up for election, with three candidates vying for the seats. The candidates are Steve Harness, Steve Horton and Robert Lawrence. The School Board is comprised of five elected members. Any Board approved policy requires a simple 3 to 2 majority. For over 20 years, the Mt. Healthy City School Board has had a stagnant majority, with NO POSITIVE RESULTS. Two Mt. Healthy graduates, Steve Harness and Steve Horton (Steve H. & Steve H.) believe, along with many residents, that this balance of power must end. If both are elected, positive results WILL be coming. First and foremost, the School Board MUST be accountable to the residents of this district. The current Board majority seems to have forgotten this important point. In fact, this current majority has voted against the following issues, and has spent over $120,000 of taxpayers' money on their own compensation and travel expenses in the last 5 years alone! Steve Harness and Steve Horton strongly believe that being a member of a school board is an act of community service, not a position held for monetary gain. Take a step toward a new beginning for our schools this November. Vote FOR Steve Harness and Steve Horton (Steve H. & Steve H.) for the Mt. Healthy City Schools Board of Education. |
