- Growth and Development: Working together we can protect our way of life in Modesto and strengthen our local economy by planning for the future. I do not believe further unchecked development is the answer to Modesto's problems; in fact I consider it to be one of the most significant problems we face. We need to grow our city from its core rather than continuing to expand needlessly over our precious agricultural land. I shall fight to keep our local jobs and help new businesses and industries come to Modesto and flourish here in our City.
- Community: I believe that we must embrace our City's diversity and foster an environment that enables open sharing of thought for all our citizens. City Hall must be viewed as a partner and a willing listener for any concerns pertaining to the community. City Hall must go beyond an open door policy and be willing to take the initiative to address the concerns of our citizens. This obviously will be a result of a culture change that I intend to bring to the Modesto City Council and I shall lead by example.
- Public Safety: The foundation of the stability of any community, large or small, is a commitment to public safety. For a community to thrive, the many interests that make it up (business, financial, residential, agricultural, and educational) must feel secure and safe in their environments. If we are to be able to foster the kind of growth that Modesto needs to reclaim its vitality, the City needs to reevaluate from the ground up its prioritization of public safety. I will ensure that our citizens are aware of how seriously we take their safety and how committed we are to ensuring that it is a high priority for civic leadership.
