Full Biography for Denver Dale
Candidate for |

|
Dr. Denver Dale was appointed to the Cypress Fire Protection District (CFPD) board in 2008 and was then elected to the CFPD board in 2009. He has served the district as Board President since 2009. Denver grew up on a small farm in rural Australia where his father was a farmer, volunteer firefighter and councilman. After completing a bachelor's degree in science at the University of Queensland (Australia), Denver won a scholarship to the University of Oxford (England) where he completed a Ph.D. in medical science. In addition to pursuing his studies at Oxford, Denver was elected to represent the graduate student body at St. John's College and held several other elected offices. Denver also represented the university in polo (for which he won an Oxford Blue) and Australian Rules Football. After completing his Ph.D., Denver joined the investment management division of Goldman Sachs & Co. in New York. Over the subsequent 10 years, Denver founded and built a Los Angeles-based investment team that managed more than $4 billion on behalf of both private- and public clients around the world. After 10 years in Los Angeles, and as country folks at heart, Denver and his wife (Dr. Tricia Markusen) moved to the Monterey Peninsula in 2000 after she completed her term as Chief Resident at UCLA Medical Center. In addition to starting a family, Denver and Tricia also started several local businesses including On-Point Capital, LLC (a registered investment advisory firm providing sophisticated investment management services to private- and public clients worldwide) and Monterey Women's Health Medical Group (Tricia's medical practice). Denver, Tricia and their three children live in the Jack's Peak area of Carmel and have been homeowners in the Cypress Fire Protection District for more than 10 years. In addition to his duties as Board President of the CFPD, Denver serves on the board of the Aguajito Property Owners Association (Jack's Peak) and is a trained volunteer member of the regional Community Emergency Response Team. Denver believes passionately that strong fiscal- and operational governance are required to balance the fiscal strength of the district with the drive to maximize fire and safety protection and prevention services. He is proud of the incumbent board's record of providing district residents with the highest service levels in Monterey County whilst simultaneously maintaining and growing strong cash reserves during these turbulent economic times. Denver Dale is not a politician: instead, he believes that hard work, integrity and respect are the keys to success. That is how Denver lives his life and that is what Denver brings to the Cypress Fire Protection District. |
