My vision for creating partnerships with parents, students and teachers.
A school board must have a clear vision for the school district and a clear path to achieving that vision. I envision ECS campuses as being the schools of choice for parents and students, providing rigorous coursework in a positive and safe learning environment. I know that this vision can only be achieved by working in active dialogue with parents, teachers, and students. I have spent a lot of time speaking to teachers and parents about their vision for an effective board member. An individual who will engage the community and value opinions was a top priority. As a Board member I will welcome any and all input from the community. I envision community groups that can be called upon to give perspective and suggestions to the Board before decisions are made. As a Board member I will take a pro-active approach, attending community forums, neighborhood meetings, local clubs, PTA meetings, school staff meetings, listening, observing, and making sure all are aware of the challenges ahead. The community will be much more supportive and appreciative if they are given an authentic opportunity to be part of the process that makes the crucial decisions for the school district.
