Candidate for
Director; Abington School District; Democratic, Republican Party

This information is provided by the candidate

I have lived in Abington for 15 years and my husband and I are the proud parents of three children. The oldest child is a graduate of the Abington School District and the younger two children are currently attending Abington schools.

I started my affiliation in the Abington School District by volunteering my time at the elementary level. I served as the PTO president at Highland and as the Vice President of the Abington Parent Council, which was the umbrella organization of all of the district's PTOs and PTAs. In addition, I have served on many different district level committees. I chose to run for school director 8 years ago to demonstrate to my children the importance of public service and to advocate for the continuing quality of the Abington public schools.

Being a school director is both rewarding and challenging at the same time. The charge of a school director is to provide oversight to the district and the administration as a whole. A school director must be able to balance the needs of all of the students enrolled in the public schools while also being attentive of the obligation the public schools put on the local taxpayers. Serving as a school director is truly a labor of love since school directors serve without remuneration.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as a board member and hope to continue to serve the citizens of Abington Township and Rockledge Borough.
