Who is John Fields....?

  • John Curtis Fields was born January 16, 1958 in Covina, California.

  • In 1959, the Fields Family (John, his sister, and their parents) moved to Glendora at 944 Fuchsia Avenue, near Baseline Road and Grand Avenue.

  • The Fields Family attended the United Methodist Church on the corner of Bennett and Vista Bonita avenues in Glendora and John starts Happyland Nursery School there in 1962.

  • John attended at Gordon Elementary School from 1963 through 1970 for grades K-6, became active in scouting through Pack 492, and served as student body president in 1969-1970.

  • John attended Sandburg Junior High School from 1970 through 1973 for grades 7-9, coordinated the first Fields' Follies production and served as student body president in 1973.

  • John attended Glendora High School from 1973 through 1976 for grades 10-12. In 1974/1975, John served as Junior Class President and produced a larger version of Fields' Follies, starring famous fan dancer Sally Rand and Lucianne Buchanan, Miss California. In 1976, John served as student body president.

  • In 1976, John coordinated the Glendora Bicentennial Picnic in downtown Glendora and assisted with the painting of a mural on the outside wall of the Venberg building (now Andrews Clothing). At this time John also served on the San Gabriel Valley Symphony Board of Directors

  • From 1976-1980, John attended Cal Poly, Pomona while working internships in the city manager's office of the City of Glendora and the City of Glendale, graduating in June 1980 with a BA degree in Political Science and Public Administration.

  • From 1980 to 1982, John completed his MBA degree from Claremont Graduate School, while working full-time at the City of Duarte.

  • From 1982 until 1989 John worked in downtown Los Angeles for the Transamerica Corporation in corporate training and marketing. During his lunch hour he would play on the Mighty Wurlitzer theater pipe organ in the Orpheum theater.

  • In 1989, John moved his family (wife and 2-year old son) to El Paso, Texas coordinating customized training for El Paso Community College.

  • In 1992, John began teaching part-time college level classes in the evenings, in addition to his full-time day job. John served as an adjunct faculty member for the El Paso Community College and the University of Texas at El Paso, and has served continuously as a facilitator for the University of Phoenix in both New Mexico and California from 1994 to the present.

  • In 1996, John (by then a single parent) and his son moved back to Glendora and John served as the executive director of the Chamber of Commerce of West Covina.

  • In 1998, John was recruited back to El Paso, Texas to serve as the Vice President of the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce, managing the Business Development Division and assisting small (mostly minority and women-owned) business to get started and grow.

  • While in El Paso, John served on the board of directors of the El Paso Symphony and the El Paso Center Against Family Violence. In addition, for five years he volunteered his time each week to play public concerts on the Mighty Wurlitzer theater pipe organ from El Paso's Plaza Theater and he helped restore and reinstall the organ in 2005.

  • From 2003 through 2007, John served as the Director of Development for the El Paso Del Norte YWCA and the San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity, moving back to Glendora in 2006.

  • Since November 2007, John has served as the executive director of the California Rifle and Pistol Association and been a member of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses.

  • John is a member of the Glendora Chamber of Commerce, the Glendora Kiwanis Club, and a lifetime member of the Glendora Historical Society, serving on the Rubel Castle Conservation Committee.
