What measures do you support to save existing jobs and create new jobs in New York State? Answer from John D. Ceretto: High taxes are causing businesses to look elsewhere. Lowering commercial property, energy and corporate taxes will attract new business to the state. New Yorkers are hard workers, want to work, but New York State is hindering this process. With a climate friendlier to opening up a business, jobs will come. 2. How do you think New York can best deal with upcoming unsustainable deficit budgets? Answer from John D. Ceretto: By enacting a hard spending cap, New York politicians will be forced to make tough decisions. No longer will borrowing or gimmicks be an option. A spending cap will force rollbacks in Medicaid and Public Pensions more in line with the national average, as well as restrain our State Agencies 3. What reforms would you propose to address inadequate campaign finance rules and enforcement in New York? Answer from John D. Ceretto: I would support any reform that curtails the influence special interests have in this election prcoess. We need to bring elections back in the hands of the public and leave the special interests out of it. 4. What reforms would you support for the redistricting process? Answer from John D. Ceretto: I would support an independent redistricting process that does not include legislators themselves, nor rely on partisan tactics. It is important to draw fair district lines to give New Yorkers real representation in Albany, not the scheme of party bosses. 5. Would you support a cap on property taxes and, if so, how do you think school districts can deal with the decrease in revenue? Answer from John D. Ceretto: I would support a property tax cap. At the same time, we must relax the mandates placed on schools by the state. If we cap property taxes we protect the tax payer. If we relax mandates, we protect our schools, our teachers and our children.
