Political Philosophy for Tim Thiesen

THE ECONOMY The Sacramento politicians are at war with the Central Valley and it's time we fought back. We must cut taxes now and I will start with the $800 new business "start-up" tax. As a small businessman and lifelong farmer, I know what it means to make payroll, pay taxes and work within a budget. As your Senator, I will propose legislation to cut wasteful spending and make Sacramento live within its budget while fighting against any attempt to weaken Prop. 13. I have signed the Taxpayers Protection Pledge and am the only candidate endorsed by the Lew Uhler, President of the National Taxpayer Limitation Committee and the California Taxpayer Protection Committee. JOBS Our unemployment rate in the Central Valley is near 20%! The only way to get our economy back on track is by creating new jobs. We need to first reverse government over-regulation starting with AB 32. Instead of over-regulating, we need to cultivate a business climate that encourages growth and job creation. As a small businessman, I believe that I can bring the experience and knowledge needed to make these changes. WATER Water is our most precious resource in California, and quite frankly, it keeps the Central Valley working. Central Valley farmers need water to irrigate their crops, make a living and keep employees. It's time to turn the pumps back on and get the Central Valley farming again. Our families are more important than a fish - period. As your Senator, I will make it my top priority to turn the pumps back on and maintain needed water supplies in order to protect our families and farm's futures. AGRICULTURE I have worked on a farm all my life. Career politicians passed AB 32, which is job-killing environmental extremism at its worst. I will be the Valley voice in Sacramento and fight to repeal these restrictive regulations. As your Senator, I will fight to preserve Williamson Act funding. The Act is not only an integral part of protecting California's farming heritage, but it helps grow our economy. |
