Full Biography for Jennifer "Jenn" Welsh

|
Jennifer "Jenn" Welsh was born in Melrose, Massachusetts but grew up in California, the bi-coastal product of a Bostonian mother and Californian father. Jenn's parents instilled in her a fierce independence and unwavering love of freedom. As a young mother, Jenn attended college, became a respiratory therapist, and worked in a wide variety of settings in Riverside and Orange Counties. Jenn and her husband Jeff moved to Imperial Beach twelve years ago with their three children Bill, Coral and Cade. Jenn, through her company ClearShow Media, created a video to be used as a springboard to bring together parents, the school district, and the local community. In the year 2000, Jenn raised over $60,000 to build the playground at the corner of Connecticut Street and Imperial Beach Boulevard. Later, in 2002, Jenn followed in the footsteps of her father, a classically-trained artist, and pursued a successful career as an artist. Jenn has been personally featured in several art shows, privately commissioned to do large-scale murals in homes and businesses on both coasts, and crafted dozens of original paintings. An example of some of her public work is currently housed in Katy's Café on Seacoast Drive in Imperial Beach. In 2004, Jenn and her husband purchased Mueller College in San Diego. Today, Mueller College serves a student population many times its original size. As Director of Ancillary Services for Mueller-Dean, Inc, Jenn provides direction to the Mueller Center, which houses Tools 4 Healers, the College's bookstore and retail outlet; Across The Street, a live performance venue featuring prominent performers such as Jason Mraz and Tristan Prettyman; and the Mueller College Community Wellness Center, a public facility featuring complimentary and alternative health services. Today, Jenn is running for the office of Mayor of Imperial Beach as a way to serve the people of the city she loves and calls home. Jenn's passion -- and mission -- is to bring transparency and openness to local government, and to empower the citizens of Imperial Beach to have a say in the governance of their town. |
