Political Philosophy for Mark Arapostathis
Candidate for |
My name is Mark Arapostathis and I have lived in the city of La Mesa my entire life. I attended Lemon Avenue Elementary and Helix High School. I received my BA, MA and Doctorate in Education from SDSU. I have come to appreciate all the city of La Mesa has to offer its citizens. I see my service on the La Mesa City Council as an extension of my lifetime of service for this city. We are fortunate that for a relatively small city of approx. 60,000 people and 9 square miles we have as much as we do. We are a full service city with our own Fire Department, Police Department, hospital that serves most of east county a vibrant and growing downtown area and our own library and14 excellent parks. Over the past 4 years I have had the opportunity and pleasure to serve my neighbors and friends on the city council. As a life time volunteer in La Mesa I was familiar with most all of the services the city provides, but what I have learned is what a hard working staff we have in our city. It is easy to tear down and hard to build up but the employees in your city work very hard every day to ensure La Mesa remains a great city. In addition to serving on the council I am a school teacher in the city of La Mesa. This has given me the opportunity to work with and get to know thousands of La Mesa's youth and their families. It also has provided me with a unique perspective to the priorities of the families in our city. Public Safety is a number one priority for me. Doing all that we can at the city to ensure that our citizens have safe streets and sidewalks to travel and clean parks to use is what I will continue to focus on in the next 4 years. It is also very important that we operate within our budget and still build our reserves to a level that can sustain us in the future. We have accomplished a great deal and continue to work hard at improving service to the people of La Mesa. In the next 4 year I would like to have the opportunity to continue to represent all of the citizens who live in this wonderful city that make me so proud. |
