Achievement and SuccessesBy Patrick W. MapleCandidate for Board Member; Galt Joint Union High School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
The work aheadSuccesses are those students who graduated from Galt High and went on to become productive and well adjusted citizens. Being a part of that is very rewarding. Any achievements however, belong to the students. I will: Balance spending among departments, re-create band and drama, open the curriculum to areas that are interesting to all students, create opportunities for jobs upon graduation, implement a semester long Life Skills course for seniors, increase funding through innovative programs and budgeting, eliminate homework, give teachers an opportunity to create income outside of the school, create a competitive edge with private and charter schools and put us on an equal footing, promote public education through innovative means, create a curriculum that will challenge all students. First priority: will be to rebuild the trust that once existed between teachers, parents administration, Board, students, staff and the community, by meeting with all parties on a monthly basis to hear their concerns and suggestions. Second: will be to create alternative funding, find grants and outside private funding for programs like the Engineering and Bio-Medical programs, sports, Ag, business/entreprenure and the core subject programs. To create a cost saving program for ELL and ESL students and their parents (K-12) to learn English thus lowering student absences and drop-outs. Third: will be to create an atmosphere at all three high school campuses that will drive kids into the classroom and on to achieve their stated goals...from day one. They will be introduced to the world of four-years-away. They will know what jobs and colleges are/ will be available so that they will be able to chart a Pathway to their choice or choices. Fourth: will be to advocate for ALL students, as a Board member, parent and now grandparent. |
