The instructional and public service programs of the Los Rios Community Colleges, including American River College and the District's many off-campus learning centers, are among the among the most exciting and positive initiatives underway in Sacramento Region.

Serving nearly 90,000 students with an annual operating budget in excess of $350 million the staff and faclty of this extraordinary public enterprise touch and elevate the social, civic and economic lives of an enormous number of people.

Nearly 39,000 students at American River College are pursuing professional careers through apprenticeship and credential programs; preparing to transfer to four-year colleges and universities; or are updating personal and job related skills to succeed in an increasingly competitive work environment.

My service as a member of the Los Rios Board of Trustees has been devoted to strenthening the capacity of the Los Rios faculty and staff to continue to offer compelling programs of study for current and future students.

I support programs to promote student transfer to California's public colleges and universities;advocate low student fees; prudent use of taxpayer funds; preserve access to academic and career training programs; student needs as highest priority in decision making; participatory and collaborative decision making; continued outreach to underserved student populations
