My 7-Point Action Plan

Action #1: Reduce Fraud through Steadfast Auditing.

Action #2: Reduce Wasteful Spending and Abuse of Resources.

Action #3: Reduce Labor Costs by Implementing Quality Controls and Streamlining Processes.

Action #4: Improve Organizational Effectiveness through Root Cause Analyzes of Systemic Failures.

Action #5: Improve Transparency & Openness by forming a Citizens Oversight Committee.

Action #6: Implement the Repair and Replacement Schedule Mandated by Law.

Action #7: Fair Hiring and Promotional Practices

The County Auditor is one of the most important positions in protecting public funds. It requires a leader who will stay the course, have clearly stated goals, and be honest with the people he serves. To this end, I have outlined a 7-point Action Plan that tells you, the voter, upfront what my plans are and how I plan to implement them.

Accountability

As County Auditor, I will take a hands-on approach and work with the Auditor-Controller team on a daily basis. I will provide strong leadership and a proactive approach to problem solving. I will ensure a new level of cooperation between the Auditor-Controller's Office and County management. Under my watch, the finger pointing will end.

Trust and Confidence

Imperative in dealing a blow to fraud, wasteful spending, and abuse of resources is the formation of a Citizens Oversight Committee. This will improve transparency and openness in financial operations. The result will increase the quality of decision-making, reduce the opportunity for corruption across the agencies, and increase confidence in government. I will provide the public timely, understandable, and useful information. As it stands today, the financial reports issued to the public are generally ancient information providing little use except as archival data. The public needs to have real time information for it to be meaningful.

The taxpayers should expect and they deserve a County Auditor who is proactive, decisive, fiscally responsible, and who will represent them with honor and integrity. I am the best person for County Auditor because I am a licensed CPA with wide ranging business experience and have been fighting for you since the day I joined the US ARMY in 1971.
