Dear Friends and Neighbors, I am running for the Mission Viejo City Council and I want to earn your vote. My motivation to run for council is simple. I have grown up in Mission Viejo and care deeply about our community. I attended Barcelona Hills Elementary School, Newhart Middle School, and Capistrano Valley High School. I graduated from UC-Irvine and was self-employed as a consultant until attending Loyola Law School. Since 2007, I have served as a City Commissioner on the Community Services Commission and was elected Chairperson of the Commission in 2009. I have run public meetings, listened to input from our residents and taken action on problems in our community. As a Commissioner, I was a leader in the successful fight to save the Casta Del Sol Golf Course from high density development and have supported fiscally conservative policies. I will move our community forward. I was a member of the Capistrano Valley High School Foundation. I chaired red carpet events, raising over $17,000 for my Alma Mater. These efforts highlighted the need for a theater at Capistrano Valley High School and prompted officials to plan its construction. I am a "product" of Mission Viejo. Through my involvement in our community, I have seen firsthand the policies that make Mission Viejo great and the policies in our city that need to be changed. My platform highlights a much needed back to the basics approach through increasing fiscal responsibility, promoting public safety, better roads, and improving parks and trails. My focus is on you, the residents of Mission Viejo. I want to hear from you and I want to invite you to follow and participate in my campaign. Contact me with the concerns/problems that you feel our city is facing. Take a look at my new website at www.Vote 4Brian.com for the latest updates and opportunities to stay involved. Warm regards, Brian Skalsky Bringing common sense back to our local government through a back to the basics approach! |
