Anna Piercy is a Southern California native. She is a graduate of the California public school system and an Alumni of California State University, Long Beach. Not only has she been an active member of the Anaheim Union High School District Board of Trustees for the last four years, but she also was a teacher in the Anaheim Union High School District for 37 years. In addition she served the residents in the city of Cypress as Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem, and Councilwoman over an eight year, two-term period.
Some of her major accomplishments while serving on the AUHSD Board of Trustee's are:
-increased cooperation and coordination with our cities for after school activities.
-coordinated with community organizations to bring new educational programs and opportunities to our students (such as Gear Up, CSUF guaranteed admissions, etc)
-expanded the number of vocational, technical, and arts career pathways offered
-improved student safety at all campus through increased security measures.
-completed the numerous problem construction projects we had been facing.
-dealt with massive budget cuts in a transparent manner so that the community and staff understood necessary reductions and to minimize the effect to the students.
Clearly she has always desired taking an active part to improve her community wherever she can. This included past
service on:
Board of Directors of Orange County Sanitation District
Orange County Library Board
Orange County Fire Authority
Along with a strenuous academic curriculum, Anna supports all the academic and vocational arts. She feels it is vital for students to explore the many facets of these areas during their educational career to balance their experiences and sharpen their skills for today's work force.
Anna is a proud past member of the school district family, and wants to continue working for students, parents and employees of the AUHSD by serving on the Board of Trustees in order to:
-guarantee Board of Trustee operation is open and clear to all constituents.
-strengthen the working relationships with our feeder elementary districts, and our five city governments within the AUHSD boundaries
-increase the number of vocational, technical and career pathways
-maintain a fiscal balance in the district while minimizing the effects on students and the classroom environment
-preserve and reinstate elective programs and classes
On a more personal level, Anna loves to volunteer, travel and spend time with her grandkids. She is the mother of Kenna, a teacher in the AUHSD, and Cameron, a nurse. She is a proud grandma to Colin, David and Katelyn. Anna lives in Cypress and is very active in the community, being a member of Friends of Cypress Cultural Arts, Cypress Kiwannis, Long Beach Assistance League, Cypress Chamber of Commerce, Greater Anaheim SELPA, Anaheim Sister City Commission and has been a volunteer chaperone for People to People Student Ambassadors.
Anna wants to continue to be a representative for all the people in the school district. She promises to continue to be visible, approachable and available.
