Candidate for
Council Member; City of Shafter

I was born in Wasco Ca on Jan. 12 l939, and moved to Shafter at the age of three. I have remained in Shafter most of my life. My longest absence was for two years while serving in the U. S. Army. I have moved to other cities due to job transfers, promotions etc for short periods of time but always return home, "Shafter"

Toni My wife of fifty years and I have two daughters, Rochelle Johnston Ceerla, and Rebekkah "Mande" Nickell; three granddaughters, two grandsons, and one great grandson.

I attended local schools, Richland Elementary and Shafter High, as did my daughters Rochelle, Mande' granddaughters Vanessah, Chelsea; we have plans for my Greatgrandson Acen doing the same. Grandchilren Cade and Clara are still works in progress.

I retired in l996 after 35 plus years with Safeway Stores Inc. and The Vons Companies. While employed by Safeway and Vons I served in several management positions, Relief Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, Head Clerk.

I was Chairman of the Shafter Personnel Board in 1975 - 1976. I also serve on several other Boards and Community Service Organzations: Shafter Community Chest Vice Pres. Shafter Kiwanis Club-Past President & Board Member Kern County Commission on Ageing - Immediate Past Chairperson American Legion Kern Council of Governments + Alternate Member Social Services Transportation Advisor Committee Member of Oversight Committee for Richland School Bond Measure J Shafter Chamber of Commerce + past director Shafter AARP Shafter Historical Society Community Development Agency + Chairperson Shafter 1st So, Baptist Church I have served the people of Shafter as a Council Member for the past 12 years.
