Wild Land Fire and Emergency ServicesBy April GrossbergerCandidate for Council Member; Town of Paradise | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
I spent nearly 10 years working for CalFire as a wild land firefighter. During this time I became a certified Fire Fighter 1/ Emergency Medical Technician by the California State Fire Marshal. I have a working knowledge of fire behavior and emergency services operations. During the 2008 fires I was evacuated from my home and it took me forty minutes to drive less than 10 miles. From both my personal and professional experiences, I deeply understand the need to decrease our vulnerability to wild land fires and improve our overall response to a major catastrophe. Working with our local and state fire departments, I want to aggressively pursue fire mitigation projects that will lessen our exposure to the threat of wild land fires. In addition, I will work with all of our emergency services personnel to improve our overall approach to catastrophic fires. |
