Board Member; Newark Unified School District

This November our community will elect new trustees to the Newark Unified School District Board - Our children's future begins now!

This year, more than ever, your decision is critical. In a time with insufficient funding for schools, your children need representation by an experienced knowledgeable leader + I am that person. I am a proven advocate for our community having answered over 1,000 emails and calls while serving you on the school board.

Newark deserves professionalism, commitment, and dedication from its school board members and I will work to meet this challenge. My business and engineering background provides me with unique breadth of perspectives critical to representing your needs and providing leadership in an environment of economic challenges.

I have a Masters of Business Administration from Saint Mary's College and college degrees in Mass Communication and Engineering. I have has the honor of serving you for the past eight years on the school board. I am married to Michelle Verdile Mensinger who teaches Science at the high school and we have four children (Sophomore in college, twins in 9th grade, and a 3rd grader) who have attended Newark Public Schools. As your Trustee, I will work to:
-Intelligently Balance the Budget
-Improve test scores
-Promote accountability
-Retain qualified teachers and classified staff
-Provide a balanced curriculum focusing on achievement and character
-Fortify college preparation, advance vocational training; and strengthen math, science, music and the arts

Our children's future begins now! Policy decisions from the Board of Education and Superintendent will provide the road-map for the future of our children. Our choice this year will make a historic difference for our kids! We must make a choice for better schools on November 2 by ensuring our children's future to the most qualified individuals.
