ECONOMY & JOBS

Government does not create jobs. The market creates jobs. And you, the consumer is the most vital part of the market. History has proven that when government allows us to keep more of our money to purchase products, goods and services; the economy grows.

But when they take your hard earned money from you through higher taxes, the economy slows down. But even worse, the predicted growth in tax revenue they were counting on, never materializes.

The best thing that government can do to help the economy is to get out of it's way. Over taxation and over regulation are job killers. We must allow people to keep more of their hard earned income and permit employers a level of flexibility that will actually allow them to create jobs, while protecting consumers.

EDUCATION

Every child has a right to the opportunity at a quality education. But whether or not they get it is up to three key partners: parents, educators and students. Active and engaged parents, a student focused educational system and motivated hard working students are the key components needed for academic success.

We need an educational system that empowers parents to be effective advocates for their children; that gives schools the resources they need in order to be effective and the authority to decide how those resources can best be used to meet the needs of their students.

Accountability must be at the center of all we do. From the politicians in Sacramento to the classroom teacher, to the students themselves, everyone must know that that they will be held accountable for how they make use of the resources made available to them.

LIMITED GOVERNMENT

In the United States and here in California, our government was designed to serve the interests of the people, not the government. This means that the politicians must realize it does not own the money it spends +THAT money belongs to the people.

In California, government seems to grow and grow, demanding more of our hard earned tax dollars and greater control over the decisions that impact our lives and families. We, the people make better decisions when it comes to our finances, our healthcare and our families than can the government.

It's important that whatever public policy we seek to implement, honor this fundamental value of limited government.

TRADITIONAL VALUES

In recent years, there has been a disturbing trend away from the fundamental values that have brought about the blessings of prosperity to the American family. And while there are those who call this progress, it must be noted that as we have strayed further and further from these values the evidence tells a very different story.

Out of wedlock births are up. This means that children are being deprived the blessings of having a mother and a father because we have allowed the institution of marriage to be undermined. Youth violence is up. Children are killing children because we have refused to impress upon them the value of every human life.

The inalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are God given,. But it is up to us to ensure that they be preserved for future generations. For our generation, it means that we must defend those who cannot defend themselves and fight to preserve the lives of the innocent. It also means that we must ensure that institutions that are at the core of our culture are honored and protected.

HEALTH CARE

All Californians should have access to affordable, quality health care. The best way to ensure that they do is to employ market-based solutions; the same types of solutions that have made ours the best health care system in the world.

More government is not the answer to improving access to health care. Do we really want to hand over such a significant portion of our economy over to the some people who run the post office and the DMV? Socialized Medicine, Single Payer, The Public Option- whatever you choose to call it, government run health care will inevitably lead to less access and poorer quality health care for all.

We must fight to reduce lawsuit abuse, reduce regulatory barriers in order to allow for more retail health clinics and expand the accessibility to Health Savings Accounts for Californians.

PUBLIC SAFETY

Government's first and foremost role is to protect its citizens. Californian's safety should always come first and never be compromised. We should make no apologies for keeping convicted criminals behind bars.

We must maintaining tough criminal penalties and keeping felons off our streets; protect our children from sexual exploitation and predators; support law enforcement to ensure officers have the necessary tools to protect our communities; and support victims of crime in their recovery.
