A message from Bill about working with our School DistrictThe future of our schools has always been an important part of my adult life. Diana & I were proud to see all four of our children do their entire education, K-12, in Torrance schools and graduating from Torrance High School. I was involved beyond the schools as an American Youth Soccer Organization coach, referee, and regional commissioner. I have further supported our youth through my involvement with the Torrance Rotary and the Salvation Army. Today, we all are sharing the pain of our School District's massive budget cuts. To lessen this burden, I am proud to be part of the new cooperative partnership between the schools and the City of Torrance. We are now working together to find economies that maximize limited resources. I am proud to have the endorsements of the entire School Board. Recently we began preparations to hold joint elections. This simple change alone could save up to $280,000.00 every election. Exploration of other alternatives is ongoing and I am confident we will accomplish additional savings and efficiencies. Proposition A, to hold combined elections will be on the June 8th ballot along with my name for re-election. I hope you will vote for both. |
