This information is provided by the candidate

1. Jobs and Economic Development - I will work to create local jobs and rebuild Hayward's assets by leveraging our small business and economic development loans/grants, employer support programs, and exceptional facilities and location. By improving our permitting process and incentives programs, we can attract the industries and developers we need to rebuild Hayward's economic infrastructure.

I will also protect and promote our resources in order to attract the jobs and businesses that encourage our diverse community to spend their dollars in Hayward, rather than in Fremont, Union City, and San Francisco. With these efforts, we can attract consumers to our City and keep Hayward dollars in Hayward.

2. Public Safety - I will continue to work with our Police and Fire departments, and our Neighborhood Alert and Neighborhood Partnership programs to create a safer Hayward. I am committed to responsibly funding all of our vital public safety efforts, including Police, Fire, and Maintenance Services.

As a Councilmember, I will support efforts to examine and address the root causes of the record number of murders in our city and the rise in auto-related crimes in order to prevent further incidents

3. Community Pride - Hayward is an exceptional city, with diverse perspectives, talents, and heritages. We need more leaders who have the experience and commitment to do more than say, "There's nothing we can do." We need leaders with a plan to help Hayward succeed. I am this type of leader.

As a council member, I will establish a strong public relations program, which includes improving the gateways and signage that are vital for or community promotion. I will lead efforts to work with our Chamber, to develop the PR tools we need, and improve the signage and gateways of our city so that we can reclaim our status as a destination city.

4. Public Services - The City is designed to be a service provider and in some ways is exceptional. We need to improve our development process to address cost recovery and infrastructure without impeding growth. I will also fight for more inclusion and transparency in City operations, building on the gains already made and addressing outstanding issues. For example, I will advocate for earlier publication of agenda items coming before the Council so that constituents can reasonably prepare to be involved in the process.

5. Sustainability - It is possible to build homes and businesses that incorporate environmentally friendly practices without increasing the overall cost of a project. Similarly, our aging population should inspire more development that incorporates universal design standards so that housing is accessible to all abilities and ages. I will champion proactive planning based on existing/emerging market information and long-range trends to create a more sustainable Hayward.
