Will Mega is Born to Serve, and Prepared to Lead!

As a young man in West Philadelphia, Will Mega made the decision to stay away from the drugs, violence, and temptations that were causing the neighborhood to suffer. He dedicated himself to public service and has established a record of leadership in his community. He now looks forward to the next phase of his public service as the State Representative for Pennsylvania's 192nd Legislative District.

Will Mega is a proud member of Bible Way Baptist Church. He was born and raised in the Wynnefield section of West Philadelphia and currently lives in Overbrook. The proud father of his son, Kasai, Will is deeply involved with his family and community. A graduate of West Catholic High School (Class of 1990)--where he played varsity basketball and served as team captain--Will currently mentors and coaches young men in the community. In the 1998 and 1999 seasons he returned to West Catholic High as an assistant basketball coach. He has attended both West Chester University and Temple University, where he focused on mass media and communications. For more than 12 years as a Human Services professional, he has counseled and mentored thousands of students from diverse backgrounds, including the mentally gifted, at-risk youth, cognitively challenged, and those with disruptive behavior disorders.

Mega has been a servant leader since the age of nine, when he was recruited to mobilize young people in the community and work on the successful campaigns of U.S. Congressman Chaka Fattah and PA State Senator Vincent Hughes. His passion to empower young adults led him to create the Hip Hop Agenda, Inc., a non-profit organization focused on politically empowering young voters. Hip Hop Agenda, Inc. partnered with P. Diddy's (Sean Combs) `Citizen Change + Vote or Die' campaign and organized more than 10,000 college students in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh during the 2004 Presidential election. For his leadership and Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV) efforts he received the 2004 Voice and Opportunity through Elections Community Service Award. He also co-founded the National Political Hip Hop Convention held in 2004 in Newark, NJ with more than 6,000 participants from18-35 years old attending from across the country.

He is the president of Will Mega and Associates, an email marketing, government relations and political field operations firm. In addition to his voter empowerment efforts, Mega has successfully impacted political campaigns and administrations. His most recent political victory came in 2008 while serving as the Campaign Manager for Democratic PA State Representative Kenyatta Johnson; he later served as Representative Johnson's Chief of Staff in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

In 2007, he served as the Director of Field Operations for the winning Democratic City Council candidate Curtis Jones, Jr. In the 2006 Pennsylvania gubernatorial election, Mega served as the Philadelphia Field Operations Manager for the key-challenging candidate; he also served as Director of Field Operations for a Pennsylvania U.S. Senate candidate in 2005-2006. Mega is a recipient of the 2005 Hon. Lucien E. Blackwell Community Service Award and Mayor's citation. In February 2005, the Philadelphia Tribune editors selected Mega as one of Philadelphia's Most Influential African-Americans Under the Age of 40 To Watch.

Mega also has an abiding commitment to community. Mega is a candidate for a Masters of Human Services degree from Lincoln University, where he will receive his degree in Fall `09. Some of his contributions to the community include the following:

He is founder of the Men of Wynnefield, a grassroots volunteer men's organization with a mission to empower the men and boys of the Wynnefield section of Philadelphia.

Mega has coached in the Men of Wynnefield Basketball League in the 2007, 2008 and 2009 seasons.

He served as a Special Projects Developer for the National Comprehensive Center for Fathers. NCCF's mission is to empower fathers to unite families by providing the resources for fathers to become more socially and economically responsible. NCCF offers a comprehensive set of services that promote self-sufficiency, character reconstruction and positive fatherhood through education, training, counseling, mentoring and job development. http://www.nccfamerica.com

He is Co-Founder of Brothers For Barack, a collective of men who have come together for the purpose of increasing the participation of black men in the political process. BFB is determined to: increase voter registration amongst black men; recruit young black men to run for political office; increase voter turnout; politically educate its target demographic; raise funds; and provide the necessary resources needed to support black male elected officials and aspiring politicians who represent the Brothers For Barackchange agenda.

With Men United for a Better Philadelphia, he has served as a Violence Prevention Consultant. He has taught junior high and high school students conflict resolution and self-esteem skills for this non-profit organization. http://www.facebook.com/1MUBP?ref=mf
