My values, goals, and reasons why I will best represent you in Congress
MY VALUES
My values that will underpin how I represent you, the constituents of the PA 8th district, are the following:
1. I believe in limited, constitutional government.
2. I believe in free markets and free market solutions.
3. I believe in ethics and accountability at all levels: personal, family, business, and government.
MY 8 GUIDING PRINCIPLES FOR THE 8TH DISTRICT AND THE NATION
#1 Slash government spending and eliminate the deficit
- Eliminate, privatize, or transfer to the states those unconstitutional activities of government
- Resolve the fiscally unsustainable entitlements programs
#2 Reinvigorate private enterprise. Restore stability to government policies and taxes so businesses invest, grow, and create jobs.
- Accelerate depreciation of business investments
- Reduce personal tax rates on interest, dividend income, and capital gains
- No to higher personal income tax rates
- No alternative minimum taxes and no estate taxes
- Reduce corporate income tax rates and give preferential lower rates to exports
- No to `card check' legislation
- No to Cap & Trade legislation
- Slash government spending so it does not crowd out businesses and consumers
- Reform financial regulations so bank executives, shareholders, and creditors bear the risk of failure, and not taxpayers
- Cease the over-reach of government into regulating and owning American businesses
#3 Enact health care legislation that can reduce costs and improve access for Americans
- Include tort reform and robust competition across state lines
- Expand Health Savings Accounts [HSAs] to provide portability and tax advantages for those who buy individual insurance policies. HSAs will also create consumer awareness of costs so Americans can lower their health care costs through lifestyle changes and better insurance decisions.
- Fix the `out of control' health care entitlements of Medicare and Medicaid
- Repeal the recently enacted health care legislation. Enact legislation that actually addresses cost and availability of health care for Americans, and is deficit-neutral and constitutional.
#4 Make America energy independent by enabling businesses to pursue all energy sources, in an environmentally sound manner
- Support drilling in ANWR
- Support nuclear power
- Support construction of new electric power transmission lines as needed for new sources of electric generation
- Make government responsive to companies' proposals to drill on federal leases
- Eliminate the federal Department of Energy
- Allow free enterprise to develop and commercialize energy resources
- Ensure we protect our environment and natural resources as we develop energy sources
#5 Secure America from terrorism and illegal immigration
- Vote NO on blanket amnesty
- Recognize Iran's nuclear program as the greatest threat to our security, and address it accordingly
- Enforce American laws covering legal immigration procedures
- Punish American businesses that employ illegal immigrants
- Treat terrorists as illegal enemy combatants
#6 Stop cap and trade
- Overturn the EPA ruling on greenhouse gases.
- Establish open and unbiased science on global warming before spending trillions of dollars on programs that would have virtually no impact on global warming and would expand government
#7 Restore ethics and accountability to government and business
- Stop bail-outs at taxpayer expense
- Hold business executives, shareholders, and creditors liable for failure
- Enact a constitutional amendment for term limits for congress
- Cover congress under all laws they enact for the rest of Americans
- Hold congress accountable to strict rules of ethics and punish violators
#8 Reduce the role of the federal government to its powers as enumerated in the U.S. Constitution
- Defund federal programs and activities that are unconstitutional.
- Privatize or return to the states those programs that should be owned privately or controlled and funded by the states
- Support thorough debate by Congress to determine if it has the Constitutional powers to act in a specific area, before it blindly proceeds to legislate there
- Support education programs and citizen action groups to better educate American citizens on their Constitution and the limited powers of government
- Build citizen support for Congress and the courts to limit the interpretation of federal powers to those intended by the Framers
- Support action to review and approve judicial appointees on their views of the interpretation of the US Constitution, and not on their political opinions or views on specific social issues
WHY I AM THE BEST CANDIDATE TO REPRESENT THE PEOPLE OF THE 8TH DISTRICT
1. I am an experienced businessman
- No other candidate can make this claim
- 27 years of experience working as a manager and director in large U.S. manufacturing corporations. Experienced in continuously improving operations, services, costs, and value to customers.
- Hold a B.S. degree in chemical engineering and an MBA in general management
- Deeply experienced in finance, financial planning, project management, supply chain, general management, and operations
- Deeply experienced in leading teams in the design and implementation of new procedures, organizations and systems to reduce costs and improve product quality and customer service
- President of Hoffman Wealth Solutions and provide comprehensive financial planning advice to clients
- Thoroughly understand international and national economics, business, finance, and public policy
2. I am committed to conservative principles in all areas
- I seek to return our federal government to its enumerated, constitutional powers of the U.S. Constitution.
- I support drilling in ANWR and I oppose `card check' legislation. Card check allows for unions to use open voting when asking fellow employees if they support the union, and also imposes a government contract on the employer if the union and employer cannot agree.
3. I am a `citizen legislator'
- This is the first public office I have sought
- I am called to seek this office because I feel the passion to help resolve our nation's issues and because I see mostly failure in our current elected officials
- I seek to help resolve our issues and return our nation to its correct path. I will not become a career politician.
4. I am a hands-on problem solver
- I have led teams of problem solvers and I have rolled up my sleeves and done the work myself
- I alone of all the candidates can articulate the nation's issues and the detailed actions to resolve them
5. I seek collaborative solutions
- I worked with key customers, suppliers, and internal groups within the corporation to design and implement overall optimum resolutions and agreements
- I will subordinate my self-interest to the interest of those who I represent
