Creating Jobs in Ohio Real Ohioians are hurting right now with double digit unemployment because politicians in both parties allowed state government to grow out of control and overburden small business. Small business is the engine for job creation, but Ohio is an unfriendly state to do business and it shows in the numbers. From 2000 to 2009, Ohio lost 544,100 private sector jobs. Why? According to the Tax Foundation, Ohio ranks 47th in business tax climate and 44th in state and local tax burden. A smaller, more nimble government and a reduced tax burden will allow Ohio's economy to succeed like Texas and Utah, instead of suffering through high unemployment like Michigan and California. I will:
As your representative to state government, you should know where I stand on the issues. I will not duck questions and I will be honest about what I believe. I expect to be held accountable for my promises, and I welcome your attention. In the same way, state government should be open and accountable to the citizens and taxpayers they work for. My background in technology gives me a unique perspective on ways to get this done. I commit to:
Our Constitution was written based on the principle that governmental power is derived from the consent of the governed and that the most effective government is exercised as close to the people as is possible. Over the last 120 years, arrogant politicians have subscribed to the fatal conceit that a one-size fits all federal government could more effectively direct our country than the 50 states or hundreds of millions of people scattered across our fruited plains. As a result, the federal government has continually asserted new powers beyond those enumerated specifically, and contrary to the 10th amendment. I will:
