As a lifelong Cincinnatian, I have dedicated my personal and professional life to community service. My first experience in community service occurred following the tornado disaster that ripped through neighboring Montgomery in April of 1999. I volunteered with the relief effort and assisted by removing debris and searching for salvageable items. While residing in an apartment in Clifton, I attended the University of Cincinnati and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. As a student, I supported myself by working at several local businesses including the Cincinnati History Museum at Cincinnati Union Terminal as an Exhibits Programs Specialist. Following the hurricanes in the Gulf Coast, I again volunteered with the American Red Cross. I was trained in Mass Care, Shelter Operations and First Aid and sent to Dallas, Texas to aid the relief efforts following Hurricane Rita. I was asked to supervise the 40 member Dallas Damage Assessment Team which ascertained the level of damage on the ground and aided the individuals requiring assistance. After closure of the Dallas facility, I returned home and accepted a position fundraising on behalf of the United Way of Greater Cincinnati. I currently serve as the Community Outreach / Disaster Services Coordinator for the American Red Cross. I continue my community involvement by serving on the Board of Directors for the Westwood Civic Association and formerly of United Cerebral Palsy, while also assisting with the Juvenile Diabetes annual walk at Kings Island. |
