I have spent the better part of my adolescent and adult life in active community service. Stemming from my love of and active involvement in sports, I've coached kids from 3 to 18 years in swimming, synchronized swimming, basketball, soccer, softball, and cheerleading. I always believed it important to give back and have found my life truly enriched as a result. As a Whittier resident for the past 18 years (CA: 26 years), I have focused my service in kids, sports, education, and fundraising for these very causes. At this time, I maintain a Director/Secretary role on our WCSD Education Foundation where we are promoting arts on behalf of funding $300,000 worth of library remodeling in our two middle schools, Dexter and Edwards. I have served for 10 years with the YMCA as Board Member, coach/mentor, and association leader in our annual fundraising/support campaign. Last, I make concerted efforts to teach in our schools' classrooms through Junior Achievement and AVID so that our kids can envision a world larger than themselves and see themselves wholly capable of contributing to it. It is a true blessing to be so engaged in these ways. My family learns and shares with each experience the many lessons of caring about quality of life and friendships where we live. It has rewarded me in so many ways. I am absolutely a better person because of it! Thank you for your support! I look forward to continue this important work in our community. |
