Despite the State's major financial problems we have been able to protect programs that are keeping dropout rates low and student test scores higher. We have successfully invested local tax dollars on improved facilities with citizen oversight to protect those tax dollars from wasteful spending. Our district has used technology to improve counseling services so that our counselors can provide students the necessary advice to successfully complete college requirements. We have improved partnerships with local schools and community colleges. These partnerships have made it possible to develop a seamless path to college. In fact, this year students will have the opportunity to take college courses while in high school and graduate with one year of college completed. We established an after school tutoring program and improved articulation opportunities between the district and all feeder schools. These programs have assisted us in retaining students and reducing the counselor to student ratio. We have made many gains over the last eight years, but we have to be vigilant in protecting these important programs from state budget cuts. We cannot afford to lose the advances we have made. Together we can continue to strengthen the District. Thank you for your consideration.
