Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Cerritos Community College District

Dr. Shin Liu is a 19-year resident of the City of Cerritos. She is married and a mother of three children. Her husband, Mr. Benson Tung, is a senior manager at Envision Peripheral Inc. Her eldest daughter, Jessie Tung, is a full-time student at the University of California, Berkeley. Her youngest daughter, Kelly Tung, is a full-time student at the University of California, Los Angeles. Her son, Shawn Tung, is a full-time student at Cerritos High School.

Dr. Shin Liu is a Professor of Computer Science and the Coordinator of Distance Education at Rio Hondo Community College. She is a scholar and passionate educator with more than 15 years experience in the Community College System. She has a Doctoral degree in Computer Information Systems from Argosy University, a Master of Computer Science from the University of Texas at El Paso, and her Bachelor of Education degree is from the National Taiwan Education University. Dr. Shin Liu is also a certified Microsoft Software Engineer and a certified Cisco Network Engineer.

Dr. Shin Liu has published a number of professional papers related to computer information technology. She delivered a speech at Oxford University in March 2008. This past May, she led and mentored Rio Hondo College students to compete with students from prestigious four-year universities in the Microsoft-sponsored "Imagine Cup 2009 U.S. Finals" in Boston. The Rio Hondo software design team put on an outstanding performance and was the only team from a community college to compete in this contest.

Dr. Shin Liu firmly believes that every student has unique talent and potential. Through education and resources, all students can achieve their goals in life. Dr. Liu is asking you to help her to achieve her goal by electing her as a Cerritos College Board of Trustees member. She will help each student to achieve his/her life's goal.
