|
Patrick "Kit" Bobko has proudly represented the people of Hermosa Beach since his election to the City Council in June 2006, and is currently serving his first term as Mayor. Kit has been influential in improving the relationship between the Hermosa Beach School District and the City Council through his work with the Project Forward residents' committee. The Committee studied the issues that face our schools, and offered recommendations on how to move the community forward together. The School District awarded Kit the "Making a Difference for Children Award" for his work with Project Forward. Kit has worked for "greening" Hermosa by increasing green space on Pier Avenue and improving pedestrian and bicycle access to our City through his work on the Upper Pier Avenue Committee. The result of that committee's work will result in a decrease the pollution that runs onto our beach and into our surf. Kit has been a strong proponent of improving the quality of life for Hermosa residents, and was an architect of the police "surges" that focused police and community resources on Pier Plaza and surrounding neighborhoods. The "surges" resulted in a 30% reduction in disturbance calls and corresponding improvement in the quality of life in our neighborhoods. In addition to his duties on the City Council, Kit is a Shareholder in the Litigation Department with the law firm of Richards, Watson & Gershon, where he specializes in the representation of municipalities and public entities in both the state and federal courts. Kit has also served as a City Prosecutor for a number of cities, and was recognized by his peers as a Southern California "Young Super Lawyer" in 2003 and 2004. Kit is a 1991 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, and holds a Master's Degree in Philosophy from the University of South Carolina. Kit obtained his law degree from the George Washington University in Washington, DC, where he also had the opportunity to work on Capitol Hill as a Law Clerk in the Senate Judiciary Committee. |
