Bassett High School graduate (2006) currently enrolled in Pasadena City College working towards for an Associates Arts degree. I plan to transfer to University of La Verne to receive a bachelors, masters, & doctors degree in Education. I'm a recent Bassett High School graduate; I feel it is time to elect an experienced student on our school board. Serving on the Pasadena City College Student Government Board has given me the confidence, determination, & skills to be the leader Bassett been asking for. I represented nearly 31,000 students in Sacramento, lobbing for community college funding and to lower tuition for college students. I feel I am the change our schools need. I know the many challenges the districts face and this is the time for the Bassett community to work together for the educational future of our students. I am ready to serve my community, fight for our students, and take action. I served on the Pasadena City College Associated Students Executive Board and served on College Committees such as finance, Campus safety, and Lobby. It's time for a change for Bassett School Board of Education; I walked the halls, sat in the class rooms, and learned from the teachers our children are being to taught from. Its time to elect new leadership, leaders that will fight for students and parents, represent teachers, staff, administrators, and be the strong voice our district needs. Get out on November 3rd to vote for the right leaders for the right reasons. ELCET Joshua Luis Acevedo, One STRONG voice for Students, Teachers, and Taxpayers. Bassett Unified School District faces many challenges; we need to enhance test scores, improve student academic achievement, maintain a steady budget, and to improve student enrolment. |
