EDWARD J. BRANDT Veteran Incumbent Candidate, Chairman of the Board Ed has been steadfastly and effectively serving Lower Gwynedd Township for 26 years. He is currently serving his 4th term as Supervisor, and has been Chairman for three of those terms. Clearly, he is the most experienced candidate in this election and will continue to provide extensive knowledge, experience and institutional memory to the full Board. Under Ed's watch, the Board's commitment to a conservative fiscal policy has resulted in no tax increases in the past 13 years and has placed the township in a strong financial position to face the challenges that the economic slowdown may present. The Township has maintained a Moody's Bond rating of Aa2 for 10 years and in 2008, this rating was upgraded to Aa1, which is among the highest attainable for a municipality of Lower Gwynedd's size. During Ed's tenure, Lower Gwynedd has developed into one of the most desired communities in the county to live and continues to lead the county in highest residential property values. Ed was instrumental in fostering dialogue with Lower Gwynedd's industrial companies with the creation of the Industrial Compact. He has placed Lower Gwynedd in the forefront of recycling in the region with the launch of the RecycleBank program. And, with an eye towards an attractive, walkable and thriving business district along Bethlehem Pike, Ed and his fellow Board members initiated the Bethlehem Pike Revitalization Committee in the Fall of 2008. Ed is also committed to the community at large. He has been a member of the Ambler Kiwanis since 1981. He is current chairman and founder of the Best of Philly Suburbs annual July 4th Carnival and Fireworks. He is also the current president of the Montgomery County Development Corporation and past President of the Lower Gwynedd Little League, having served for 12 years. Ed has had a positive impact on the township and has established deep roots. He will continue to contribute greatly to the community and asks for your support in maintaining Lower Gwynedd as the premiere address in Montgomery County. I |
