ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • Leader in garnering support for the passage of Measure J + a $3.5 billion bond to rebuild and renovate LA Community Colleges to LEED and green standards.

  • Advocate for increased vocational, workforce and career technical education throughout the LA Community Colleges.

  • Steward for outreach programs to economically disadvantaged students including, African-American and Latino males.

  • Support for a District-wide sustainability and recycling program.

  • Advocate for increased opportunities for small, local disadvantaged and disabled veteran businesses.

  • Support for fair and equitable benefits and wages for LACCD employees and various labor initiatives.

GOALS

  • Ensuring accountability of the Measure J and prior bond funds.

  • Supporting increased vocational, workforce and career technical programs that generate jobs for the 21st Century and the Green Economy.

  • Increasing transfer rates for LA Community College students.

  • Ensuring access to LA Community Colleges for all students.

  • Increased training and development opportunities for District employees.

  • Lobbying for changes in the funding model for community colleges at the state and federal levels.
